The Alpen Lodge is really 2 bars - upstairs is a traditional pub ( basic & small with a good jukeboX). Downstairs is where the action is with live music. At the weeked this opens in the early evening & is packed with shoppers having a good time, it's then pretty dead until the latE evening session when it fillS up again. It has to be said that singers are mostly pretty impressive belting out old & newer standards. Attracts the 40 & over crowd mostly on the pull but well behaved. Downstairs has a low ceiling & can feel claustrophobic especially when packed, the drinks selection isn't great but adequate & is costly (upstairs IS cheap but u can't bring drinks down) the tolets downstairs aren't great but are clean. The staff keep this place running well. Not A classy night out but fun for couple of hours now & then.
