This place was a brilliant find. When we went in we were pleased to see lots of real ale pumps - including the local Shot Over's Prospect and the JST's own delightful brew of Fisher & Co. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and the cheap prices! Later that evening there was live music - a real touch. Apparently live music and events are regular here.....I will be going back for more!

Great pub. Nice atmosphere and food. Nothing to complain about at all. Sunday roast is great!

Actually the new James Street Tavern IS really nice! Big change from the dive it used to be and now normal people can go in there without having to worry about being started on by some drunken lout (bonus!). Food is good, and they sell some South African food in there too if you want a change from their home cooked type menu. Separate room with pool table and big beer garden for sunny days - result in my books.

new decor, same old smell. Crap drinks, even worse food - sunday roast leaves alot to be desired. Seem to be doing a roaring trade in giving themselves good reviews on the internet.

The James Street Tavern has recently changed hands and the new landlord is keen to do away with the old reputation of this place. A new clean look has been created with an excellent atmosphere. I went in recently and had some tasty food, can recommend.
