It's the third time i have been to the Canonbury to try to make my mind about the place and i regret to inform after the 3 times i have been there and trying to forget about the extortionate prices i find the food to be rubbish and too expensive and blunt. The staff there are really rude, especially the little blond girl who i'm not sure is old enough to work.

I asked for 2 lagers and some wasabi peas to which i paid £ 9.95!!

I can take on prices being out of line for the service and the quality of what they serve but i cannot accept, lack of education and rudeness.

The drinks are too expensive, the food lacks flavour and can't be called food, they show some strange old western movies on tv, it's a strange and disappointing place. Even after ignoring the fact that people will be people and not only reviewing the pub on the actions of one single person i do not find it worth going back there.

As a resident of Canonbury, I too was looking forward to the re-opening of the Canonbury. Like any new business, the Canonbury has had teething problems and I, like many, felt disappointed during my first visits. However, since returning recently, I have noticed a vast improvement in both the quality of food and the bar staff. The new Canonbury is a vast improvement of the Canonbury a few years ago and I hope it will go from strength to strength.

The Canonbury is a total disappointment. Despite the glimpse of hope that you have when you assess its initial appearance, which you could describe as "presentable", you quickly realise that it has lost all of its character. The staff behind the bar lacked any sort of personal skills and were unresponsive and almost rude. They looked like they were not properly trained and took an age to do anything. The prices are ridiculously expensive for drinks, with 2 beers coming to almost 8 quid, and the menu is typically poor value. The seating in the garden is incredibly uncomfortable, with it presumably installed by a designer for its appearance, rather than the actual experience for the paying customers. My visit was truely awful. I went down the road to The Marquess Tavern for a drink and some food, which is very friendly, high quality and one I would choose over the canonbury everytime.

I was very unhappy when The Canonbury Tavern closed and was looking forward to it opening. What a complete wasted opportunity.

This lovely old pub has had the heart and soul ripped out of it, the garden concreted over and a Berni Inn menu installed at La Gavroche prices.

If you go then call in at the newsagent over the road and buy a couple of cans of lager to drink whilst someone is waiting 45 minutes to be served at the bar.

Hanging is not good enough for whoever is responsible for this act of vandalism.
