Just had the worst Sunday lunch ever in Chiswick. Food was brought to the table with leathery roast beef dried up at the edges and under cooked carrots and broccoli - because food had been kept waiting in some heater while waiting to be collected by overworked barman. Gravy seemed only survivor of this Sunday roast lunch. Comment from server when told

ghastliness of meal would be reported on the review page "00hh okay"

The City Barge is a pub that sits on the river Thames in the quiet West London area of Strand on the Green. The pub has two levels, an upstairs and a downstairs bar. The latter being the older part of the pub where locals tend to sit when having a drink. The upper bar (although not exclusively for food) is mainly used as an eating area. The pub has very friendly staff, but there are not many of them. This can cause issues on busy days but that is the Brewery's responsibility to let them have more staff. The staff that are there are helpful, polite and friendly. The food is good (above average) pub grub fair. The fish and chips are excellent. Three ales were on tap at my last visit, Greene King IPA, Speckled Hen and a rather punchy ale at 6.5% Abbot reserve!

The Barge is a great little pub, it could do with some TLC, but again that is down to Greene King to sort out (as long as it doesn't go gastro!) it has charm, great staff and a fab location. Well worth a visit.
