Lauries is primarliy a music venue for folk, Jazz, Scottish, singer songwriter etc type music (occasionally other stuff as well)and it does it well - You are greeted with a rather large hall area type of bar (a bit like beingin a social club) when you enter via the rather stiff doors. Lauries has a very central bar area with an ok drinks selection (usual suspects; Tennents etc)lots of seating is available and to the right (as you enter) is the main dance floor area,to the left, a nice area to eat, sit (tables etc). I think it's fair to assume this bar's main selling point is the live music, and the clientele (all ages) seem to love it and have a good time dancing to everything from a Jazz band to doing the Dashing White Seargent. Bar staff are very nice. Lauries is good at what it does.
