We [my partner and i] went to the Lord Nelson for a meal on wednesday the 4th May 2011 at approximatly 2030hrs.

We really wished we hadnt.

The starter of deep fried mushrooms were lovely,hot and with plenty of sauce and garnish and brought out after a short wait.

The steak main course was truly awful.My partners rare to medium steak hadnt even said hello to the grill it was a bloody mess on the plate with a heap of only just warm pale limp 'chips' soggily drooping next to it.My well done steak was grisly and taken home for the dog.

The veg were hot and fresh and not over or under cooked and served seperatly.

Was this because food stopped at 9pm and the chef was in a hurry to go home?i dont know but having been a regular in the Nelson before the menu changed and went 'UP MARKET' i am sad to say that we wont be returning for food ever again.

Great bar staff though,very friendly.
