I personally think there's not a lot of fights that happen in the venue it's a nice atmosphere all the time. I think the bar staff are some of the best staff I've come across in the city, good set of lads can take a joke and will 9/10 help you out with any problems you have! I had a good night last night 19/9/15 music was very good drinks are reasonably priced and there's something for everyone, drag queens are fantastic too they can have a good laugh and if your easily offended then don't come in simple! Very good night would advise people to try it for them selves:)

As a frequent customer of the star I think it's a very good night out. I don't agree with other reviews saying drugs get forced down you because that's a lie, I think the door staff are very reliable and if they don't let you in its on their judgement majority of the time a customer puts a complaint about a doorman who has hit them probably deserved it, get some gobby little shits who stand outside giving the door staff grief it's only a matter of time before they snap. But then you complain if you'd be getting smashed in a fight and they didn't split it up!.

Shocking. No toilet seats, full of druggies , floor sticky and covered it urine and bouncers are very rude and agressive. Asked me for sexual favours to get in . The drag queens also watch you in the toilets

Love this place the atmosphere is great can party till late yea there's idiots but there is every were you just gotta ignore it and enjoy your night and you'll be fine I go in there every time I'm on a night out! Love it!!!

I use to go to this bar regularly and have notice that they have hired a couple of girls to promote the bar. I recently herd these girls discussing a night out when they are suppose to be "working". I have also herd that one of the girls also has a problem with many costumers within the bar and doesnt hesitate to show this on a night out. This makes me question the truth behind the management, why would you want people like this promoting your bar? If the bar staff had this attitude they wouldnt have a job so why hire people like this to promote a buisness? definatly beginning to loose interest here!

This place is such a dive, the staff, doormen and management team are as bad as the people that go in there, if you are not gay or a drug taker/dealer you will be refused entry by the charmer of a door man. I rung the manager to make a complaint and he was not interested in the slightest. I have been refused entery for no reason when the real problems are in the pub starting fights and taking drugs along with sleeping with the bouncer for entery, who also refused to give me his badge identity number. If you are interested in spending your night it what looks and feels like a crack den then this is the place to be

i visited star for the first time on valentines day and had a great night. i ended up chatting to many many different people, all lovely, and was not once offered drugs. I know of a large group of guys banned from star for a while also so find it hard to believe they don't deal with trouble. Great place, lovely people. definitely will be making it a regular stop :D thanks guys!

OMG what a dive .... theres drugs offered soon as you walk through the door and the staff and bouncers are so rude the most appawling pub ive ever visited would not reccomend to anyone needs shutting down and if you dont look gay they dont let you in .....

If your a a normal gay or lesbian couple I would avoid this pub. If you have trouble with the door staff always ask for there SIA number if they refuse they are breaking the law. Again Ring the police they have to assist you with obtaining this number - then contact the SIA (google there site). This is the only way venues like this will be brought into line. Obviously the management are only out to make money not create a community atmosphere = ONLY YOU THE CUSTOMERS with a complaint can

This is not the type of pub we want are need. Bouncers on the doors are thugs. I strongly suggest anyone having trouble ring 999 for the police, explain to the officers what has happened and insist they create a crime number and log number - the more logs raised - the more the profile is raised with the local authority licensing people and the police. Crimestoppers on line - report any crimes or sightings of drug dealing with as much detail as possible. The police always, always act on Crimestopper reports. change anything.

Went there with a couple of friends and were told by one bouncer we weren't allowed in. Asked him why and he said we weren't gay looking enough. Thought he was kidding but apparently not. Felt humiliated. Even threatened to call the police if we didn't move on!!

Needs shutting down, my friends son was attacked by a thug who was a bouncer (not in this pub)for no reason.

Also drug dealing rife, why aren't the police doing anything about this place???? Oh I know why.....its a gay pub

late night opening (6am on weekends) has killed this venue. it doesnt get busy until other pubs have closed. beer is served in plastic glasses and - as indicated by previous reviews the bar and door staff are totally indifferent to the activities inside the pub. I have seen drugs been freely sold in the beer gardens and the place was closed one saturday because of violence involving a knife.

Do **NOT** visit this pub unless you're built like a rugby player or are a glutton for punishment. There is a very high degree you will be plied with drugs or assaulted - possibly both. I've been attacked twice here in less than 18 months. Both times the staff were blithely indifferent; each time they appeared to know the attacker - certainly the bouncer did on the first occasion.

The second time I was angered by their inaction and called the police. The attacker was allowed, or encouraged, to leave, so of course by the time the police arrived it was too late to do anything. The staff pretended like I had made no complaint whatever - which was a barefaced lie - and they were backed up scores of regulars who were clearly more interested in helping the establishment save face than address the problem of violent behaviour.

i have always enjoyed nights out at star, however, after being attacked by a man in the pub and him being thrown out i was also asked to leave as it is star's police to throw out both parties if there is an altercation. i explained i did not retaliate to which he agreed as he had seen it on cctv however that was the pubs policy. i explained that as a woman i was fearful to go outside as he would be waiting for me. this was of no concern to the the bouncer and said i must leave. i therefore asked if he would ring the police for me then as i was afraid to leave and was told star does not allow customers to ring the police from there. i begged but to no avail. however a kind lady who had witnessed what had happened gave me her phone to ring the police as she was concerned for my safety. needless to say i shall no longer be frequenting the star and garter public house.
