We had a party upstairs for 22 people.

Food was very slow - some people had finished, where as others had not even been served yet.

Advised not to get a DJ becuase they had a great sound system you could just plug an ipod into - it was terrible, some of the songs were so quiet you couldn't even hear them over people talking.

Landlady was rude when we tried to talk to her about our concerns.

I WILL NOT USE THIS PUB AGAIN

Wow! I used to drink in here a few years ago and was disappointed by it's lack of interest in it's customers or quality of service. It's now been taken over by anew management team who are making subtle but noticable changes. The menu of fresh prepared home cook food is to die for and the selaction of fine, well kept ales is a joy to the palate. you must try this place if for nothing more than the warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere. I love it there. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

I am relatively new to Southampton so keen to find some good pubs for myself, friends and family. This place is terrific. Great range of beers wines and spirits... its out of the way so not on any main drag, I hope more people discover how good this pub is. Ales are kept in great condition. Imaging the history as your consume some of the best ales I have tasted ......... certainly the best I have seen in town so far
