Amazing, proper pub. This type of grand local has nearly disappeared. It has 5 different rooms which seem to accommodate all. It is reasonably priced. Several real ales, ciders, wines, big selection of spirits and even diabetes friendly soft drinks. The menu is varied and home made even offering proper gravy. Sometimes the pub can seem old fashioned, but that is a good thing. I like sitting near the real fires in the cold winter nights. The staff are friendly and have helped introduce me to other locals. It feels like part of the community. It has a huge smoking area for us pariah smokers and an even bigger garden and a relaxing bowling green for those infrequent sunny days. All my friends agree it's a brilliant local.
