This is a very friendly and welcoming local pub and has a very good mix of people. You are always greeted with a warm smile from the very competent bar staff and feel instantly at home. It is a small pub and since the new owner Sue took over it nows opens at normal pub times instead of closing early like it used to. The prices are very reasonable and they have a very good selection of wines and a good quality house wine at only £9 a bottle. This pub is a hidden gem and in my opinion is the best pub in Brighton and Hove so give it a try because you won't be dissapointed and will probably keep going back for more!

My girlfriend goes in there sober and comes out wibbly wobbly every Friday and she is been doing that for last 13 years. Her name is now Roundabout Wibbly Wobbly Rita. Sometimes landlord partner puts her in the taxi that he pays for, to make sure Rounabout gets home safely. How is that for a service?! Come to Bow Street Runner, you will not regret it. It is a wonderful place. (Roundabout's boyfriend, clickpeter@gmail.com)

Very small pub in a back street of Hove. The place is always clean and tidy. It is too small to cater for meals etc. But what makes up for it is the atmosphere of a genuine old village pub where everyone seems to get on with each other very well. The staff are courteous as well as friendly. The music played in the background is a good mix from the 1960's thru 1990's without it booming out too loud. The pub itself seems to be predominantly frequented by the mature gay community by an average of 60/40 as mentioned in a previous post. The prices of Wine and other drinks are very reasonable as it is obvious that the landlord has no intention of ripping of his patrons of which some of whom seem to be having been regulars for many years. I would certainly recommend this little unique oasis for a friendly chat in nice surroundings within away from the bang bang and outrageousness of other pubs which could be named.

Hello

I have been using this pub for about a year or so on & off. I certainly agree with the previous comments written here. The pub is very friendly with nice bar staff. Everything about it is clean and tidy. The pub's customers are certainly a melting pot of the gay community of which I am a member and straights. It seems that everyone gets on really well with each other. There is a good selection of background music and the volume is always kept to an acceptable level.Whenever I come to Brighton my partner and I always pop in for a few drinks which are sold at reasonable prices. I would recommend this unique little pub in Hove to anyone as it has that village atmosphere about it.

Hi

Absolutely brilliant pub in the centre of Hove, Sussex. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. The patronage is 60/40 towards the gay fraternity, however saying this the gay personnel are not outrageous and well respected by the lesser numbers of straight clientèle.The background music is a well balanced mix of oldies to modern which fortunately does not contain any(C)rap dirge or head banging dirge either. A good 99% of the customers are friendly and there is always some laughter going on somewhere. The prices are reasonable and politeness is always shown towards customers.

Charlie.
