I'm not from Oxford but I've been here a few times and would reccommend it to people visiting. The half moon is a small friendly pub with great atmosphere and one of the only pubs in Oxford where you can be chatting to strangers within minutes of entering the place. It gets quite crowded late at night (as it's one of the only pubs in the area to stay open so late), especially if there is music, but great for a quiet evening drink or a last one on the journey home. It draws a mixed crowd from locals who have been frequenting for years to students and tourists passing through.
I can only imagine that the somewhat affected descriptions on behalf of the reviewers below are the result of one experience. For my part, the only times I have only seen staff approaching being 'rude' or 'unpleasant' is when they are dealing with excessive drunkenness and loutishness.
