We went on the River Thames for a bit and then felt like going to the Head of the River for lunch. It was a great location, and we could sit outside, but boy did we have to work hard for our lunch!
First of all, for some reason the staff at the split-level bar could only actually serve food from one part of the bar... but then could only serve drinks from the other part of the bar! The rather surly lad serving food apparently "had no-one to make him drinks" - all I wanted was a lemonade!
Secondly, I understand that at the time their kitchens were being refurbished, and they were using a temporary van to do their cooking from... but even that doesn't excuse someone ordering a greek salad, only to find they'd missed out the tomatoes entirely - I mean, they were the second ingredient listed on the menu!
Atmosphere, 10/10, Food quality also good, but let down by ludicrous rules at the bar, some poor staff and the fact that one of our meals came out lacking a rather basic ingredient!
